Our Story
Del Payne started in the tree service when he was just a kid growing up in Buchana,n, Mi. With two much older brothers in the tree industry, Del saw a need for firewood in his hometown. Del knocked on the doors of his neighbors to ask if they needed firewood. He built a neighborhood clientele that he delivered firewood to on a regular basis.
From splitting and selling firewood he continued in tree service working with a line clearing Crew for several years before starting his own Tree Service, Great Lakes Tree Service in NIles, MI.
Through the years Del's skill and knowledge continued to grow. Developing his heavy equipment operator skills working with concrete Crew, and continuing to do tree work on the side. In 2013 He and his son Jason decided to go back to full time tree service and Paynes Services LLC was born.
Jason Payne also started his career in trees and heavy equipment at an early age. He has been running equipment since his legs were long enough to reach the pedals of the bobcat.
They have taken a two man operation to a company employing 10. And from doing simply residential tree removal to any residential and commercial tree removal, commercial lot and land clearing, production of firewood and ground natural mulch for both decorative mulch and several other industries that use wood products.
Paynes is a woman owned enterprise, with majority owner being Laura Payne, Del's spouse. Laura is responsible for the companies financial operations.
Paynes Office Manager is also family, Kirsten Payne, Jason's spouse, runs daily operations in the office, and all of their HR and scheduling responsibilities.
